Anomaly-Free Supersymmetric Models in Six Dimensions
نویسنده
چکیده
The conditions for the cancellation of all gauge, gravitational, and mixed anomalies of N = 1 supersymmetric models in six dimensions are reviewed and illustrated by a number of examples. Of particular interest are models that cannot be realized perturbatively in string theory. An example of this type, which we verify satisfies the anomaly cancellation conditions, is the K3 compactification of the SO(32) theory with small instantons recently proposed by Witten. When the instantons coincide it has gauge group SO(32)×Sp(24). Two new classes of models, for which non-perturbative string constructions are not yet known, are also presented. They have gauge groups SO(2n+8)×Sp(n) and SU(n)×SU(n), where n is an arbitrary positive integer. Work supported in part by the U.S. Dept. of Energy under Grant No. DE-FG03-92-ER40701.

Softening of SUSY flavor problem from asymptotically free bulk interactions
Recently, it was pointed out that soft masses of the supersymmetric gauge theories with extra dimensions tends to a flavor conserving point, which is a desirable scenario in gravity mediation models. We point out that in 6D we must consider the anomaly free condition in addition to the condition on the asymptotic freedom. From this, we find E6, E7 and E8 are natural candidates in 6D. There is n...
متن کاملChiral String Compactifications from Intersecting
Intersecting Dp-branes often give rise to chiral fermions living on their intersections. We study the construction of four-dimensional chiral gauge theories by considering configurations of type II D(3 + n)-branes wrapped on non-trivial n-cycles on T × (R/ZN), for n = 1, 2, 3. The gauge theories on the four non-compact dimensions of the brane world-volume are generically chiral and non-supersym...

متن کاملA Solution to the Doublet-Triplet Splitting Problem in the Type IIB Supergravity
The doublet–triplet mass splitting problem is one of the most serious problems in supersymmetric grand unified theories (GUTs). A class of models based on a product gauge group, such as the SU(5)GUT×U(3)H or the SU(5)GUT×U(2)H, realize naturally the desired mass splitting that is protected by an unbroken R symmetry. It has been pointed out that various features in the models suggest that these ...
متن کاملAnomaly for Model Building
A simple algorithm to calculate the group theory factor entering in anomalies at four and six dimensions for SU(N) and SO(N) groups in terms of the Casimir invariants of their subgroups is presented. Explicit examples of some of the lower dimensional representations of SU(n), n ≤ 5 and SO(10) groups are presented, which could be used for model building in four and six dimensions. The consistenc...
